COLUMBUS, Ohio – Today, the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 18 endorsed Jon Husted for reelection, marking Husted’s second labor endorsement.

“Senator Husted has been great to the Operating Engineers, and we are excited to get behind his reelection,” Business Manager Michael Bertolone of IUOE Local 18 said. “We want results, not pandering. We trust Jon to continue championing the interests of Ohio’s workers.”

IUOE Local 18 represents heavy equipment operators working on critical construction machinery. The union has 16,000 members across 85 of Ohio’s 88 counties.

“I’m honored to have the support of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18,” Husted said. “Our economy is only as strong as the men and women who build it. Together, we’ll make sure workers have the opportunity to achieve the American dream for their families and communities right here in Ohio.”

Husted’s early support from labor is a result of his record on career-technical education, advancing upward mobility, and delivering the jobs that union members depend on. Last week, the Northwest Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council, representing 18 unions, also endorsed his campaign.
